Hey

This IfWeRaise newsletter contains:

• IWR event tomorrow! And thank you.

• Four useful things to read

• Final thought.

Enjoy.

📅 IWR event tomorrow! And new resources.

Fundraising 101: Get started with confidence
  • Tomorrow (Monday 24 April 12PM) Sam Simpson of Founder Catalyst is delivering a free IfWeRaise webinar - Fundraising 101: Get started with confidence. If you know founders who are looking to get up to speed on the fundamentals then this is a great place for them to start, thank you Sam!

  • Check out the latest additions to the IfWeRaise angel advisor team, including Edwina Johnson and Azeez Soetan. And thank you to Richard Cummins for recommending IfWeRaise to other advisors in his network.

  • Shout out to the angel advisors who have already picked up requests from founders, Phoebe Chibuzo Hugh was particularly quick with an Investor Update review recently, thank you.

  • We added a couple of new sections to our resource library, have we missed anything? Good Value Legal Resources for UK founders and Bootstrapping (Forever or Until a Raise)

  • We ran our first angel advisor mixer on Friday, 20% intros and 80% workshop how we can best help our angel advisors support founders. We’ve got a similar event coming up for founders soon.

Want to share IfWeRaise? Founders and angels can register interest via ifweraise.com or drop us an email.

⭐ Four useful things to read

  • Mary Lin, co-founder of UK angel syndicate platform Odin shares their data on how men and women have been investing differently in deals via their platform

  • An article I recommend frequently to founders, by our very own angel advisor Andy Budd, Crafting The Perfect Pitch Deck (From A VCs Point Of View)

  • Fascinating and surprisingly frank interview by Ben Thompson with Adobe Chief Strategy Officer Scott Belsky (previously founder of Behance). Two parts are particularly interesting. Firstly he reflects on becoming a VC at Benchmark and quickly deciding VC wasn’t for him. And secondly what he sees as a difference between ‘serial’ and ‘mission’ driven entrepreneurs. He describes the former as “masochistic” 😂 and identifies being the latter for his returning to Adobe rather than becoming a founder again.

  • A podcast recommendation Linktree, from side project to top 3 fastest growing company in the world. Fun fact from Tim: Nicky, one of the founders was an old house mate. He was genuinely the best housemate I ever had ❤️, although the constant work on his side project made him a bit anti-social…

💭 Final thought

From George Mack

"Networks don't divide as you share them, they multiply"

If you have 2 quality people that would benefit from an intro to one another, always do it.

Take care,

Tim and Hattie.
